ABOUT THE MUDFIRE RESEARCH PROJECT

Objectives of project include: (i) the development of a technology for conversion of red mud from the aluminium industry to a innovative refractory materials, (ii) pilot scale production of the materials and (iii) application of the produced materials into functional environment (ie. masonry).

NSRF 2014-2020

MUDFIRE is a funded research project in the field of “Circular Economy: Recycling & reuse of building materials, secondary materials & mining waste, refractory materials from various kilns and processes, metallurgical processes, agro-industrial waste for secondary material production”.

Funding

€354.232,50

DURATION

The total duration of the project is estimated to be 30 months.

PARTNERS

The innovation of the project lies

  • in the development of value-added materials from industrial waste through methodological formulation of raw material
  • in the fact that the developing materials will offer fire protection in constructions at low cost
  • that a large-scale fire test will be carried out for measuring performance of the material in closer to real life conditions.
